Official, Charlie Sheen Sticks to ‘Two and a Half Men’

Posted by: admin   in News · Comments (0)

Months of speculation that Charlie Sheen will leave “Two and a Half Men” has ended with a good news. The show lives on with the main star on board, Sheen’s publicist announced on Monday, May 17 night.

“To put a fitting end on the two and one-half months of whirlwind speculation, I’m looking forward to returning to my CBS home on Monday nights. I want to thank Les Moonves for his support,” the actor said in a statement, referring to President and Chief Executive Officer of CBS Corporation.

The announcement was made less than 48 hours before CBS is due to present its Fall schedule to advertisers in New York.

Sheen sparked fear for his fans when he said last year that he was thinking of retiring from acting. Furthermore, his December 2009 domestic violence incident required him to do court attendances and others which fill up his agenda. But it was reportedly salary dispute that became the main factor of Sheen’s consideration.

Joe Estevez Wants to Replace Charlie Sheen in ‘Two and a Half Men’

Charlie Sheen’s uncle has offered to replace the troubled actor if he decides to leave hit TV sitcom “Two and a Half Men“. Sheen is said to be considering leaving the show following a tough start to 2010 – an alleged altercation with his wife Brooke Mueller on 2009 Christmas Day left him facing criminal charges and he entered rehab in February this year to tackle personal issues.

Estevez’s spokesperson tells TMZ.com the actor wants “Two and a Half Men” to continue “for the good of the family”, and suggests he could play the uncle of Sheen’s character.

Charlie Sheen Said ‘So Be It’ If ‘Two and a Half Men’ Ends

Posted by: admin   in News · Comments (0)

Charlie Sheen would like to clear the air surrounding the speculation that he quits “Two and a Half Men” due to salary problem. Moreover, the actor filmed the sitcom’s season 7 finale on Friday, April 9 night and he won’t deny if it could be his last.

041110 1002 CharlieShee1 Charlie Sheen Said So Be It If Two and a Half Men Ends

To People Sheen explained, “Much speculation and rumor has arisen from my current status surrounding ‘Two and a Half Men‘. All of the numbers reported in the press are false. Claims from ‘inside sources’ regarding offers from the studio as well as my salary, on their best day, are without merit.” He went further, “Approaching the start of the current season and as far back as June ‘09, I submitted my terms for season eight to Warner Bros. and CBS respectfully.”

Based on that, he denied that the score is something what people called “eleventh hour surprise”. He added that he chose to set this straight due to respect to the show’s crew, his family, friends and fans.

Sheen then moved on to the next topic which is his departure. “If tonight’s show is the end for me as Charlie Harper, so be it,” he stated. “Another journey has begun. I take from the experience 161 shows filled with a kaleidoscope of amazing experiences, memories, friendships and gratitude. I remain humbly inspired.”

Charlie Sheen Teases the End of Charlie Harper

Posted by: admin   in News · Comments (0)

Might Charlie Sheen really exit Two and a Half Men?

With his contract set to expire, Sheen films what may be his final episode of the sitcom tonight. The actor is on record as saying that himself; and, no, this is not a negotiating plot, Sheen insists.

This is the statement he submitted to People magazine today: “Much speculation and rumor has arisen from my current status surrounding Two and a Half Men.

“All of the numbers reported in the press are false. Claims from ‘inside sources’ regarding offers from the studio as well as my salary, on their best day, are without merit. Approaching the start of the current season and as far back as June ‘09, I submitted my terms for season eight to Warner Bros. and CBS respectfully.

“Both parties have known the score for over a year. In no way, has this been a hasty or negligent eleventh hour surprise. I offer this information out of love and respect to my crew, my on-set family, my writers, executive staff, as well as my real family, my dear friends and my loyal fans. We tape the final episode of the season this evening.

“If tonight’s show is the end for me as Charlie Harper, so be it. Another journey has begun. I take from the experience 161 shows filled with a kaleidoscope of amazing experiences, memories, friendships and gratitude. I remain humbly inspired.”

Why Charlie Sheen Must Return to ‘Two and a Half Men’

Posted by: admin   in News · Comments (0)

My colleague Danny seems to think that Warner Brothers and CBS should show Charlie Sheen the door and let him leave the series, even though the network and production company are committed to two more years of ‘Two and a Half Men.’ And my other fellow TV Squadder Jason has kiddingly suggested seven characters who could fill Sheen’s shoes. Well, to paraphrase the words of Dan Aykroyd on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ they are both ignorant sluts!

040710 1818 WhyCharlieS1 Why Charlie Sheen Must Return to Two and a Half Men

Charlie Sheen must return to ‘Two and a Half Men’ for a variety of reasons, but the most important is simply this: MONEY. It’s not about how much Sheen is looking to make. It’s about how much Warner Brothers and CBS stand to lose if they let ‘Two and a Half Men’ go down the drain in its last two years.

The production company and the network are reaping huge rewards for ‘Two and a Half Men,’ and have for years. The sitcom anchors the Monday night sitcom line up. Look at the ratings; it’s been the top dog, setting the pace for the others. Only a few times this season has ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ which follows ‘Men,’ surpassed it in the key 18-49 demographic.

Together, ‘Two and a Half Men’ and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ are a potent one-two punch from 9-10PM. If you wonder why ‘24′ has struggled this season, in addition to growing tired, it was also up against CBS’s Monday sitcom duo, as well as ABC’s ‘Dancing With The Stars.’

There’s a lot to be said about the old adage that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. When something works that well in television, you don’t muck it up. (Unless your Jeff Zucker and NBC, then you sabotage yourself at every turn!) Chuck Lorre’s dynamic duo of ‘Men’ and ‘Bang’ must remain intact.

That means you pay Charlie Sheen and get him back to work next season. It will be a fresh start for him. All the problems will be behind him and the saga of Alan and Charlie Harper can continue. The idea that Charlie can be replaced from the comedy equation is naive. Anybody who regularly watches and has kept up with the show knows that like ‘The Odd Couple’ or even a sitcom like ‘Mad About You,’ the key to the success is the chemistry of the leads.

They are brothers. You can’t eliminate Alan from Charlie’s life, or vice versa, and keep the same dynamic. You couldn’t break up the ‘Friends’ either, which is why in the end, those six stars were earning $1 million per episode. It made economic sense to keep them together and cough up the $6 million in star salaries because the production company — Warners again — and the network, would get it back in revenue.

Danny’s complaint that stars pull this all the time is a salient one. But, ultimately, the big breadwinners are the creators, producers and network. We hear about what the star’s demanding, but rarely do we know how much less that is than the people behind the scenes. Assuming that Charlie Sheen is wrong to negotiate for the max he can get is foolish. This might be his last great TV program and the last shot at a big payday. You got to get it while the getting is good.

So, here’s what’s going to happen. They are already in heavy negotiations and some reports have Charlie asking for $2 million per episode with WB/CBS offering $1.6. Some put the numbers lower, but no matter what the figures being bandied about, the bottom line is Charlie Sheen will be back and he’ll have a significant raise. Forget about replacements — real or fantastic — the Harper beach house will now and forever be Charlie’s sandbox. And a very plush one at that.

If Charlie Sheen Wants to Go, Then I Say “Hell…Yes”

Posted by: admin   in News · Comments (0)

040710 0701 IfCharlieSh1 If Charlie Sheen Wants to Go, Then I Say Hell...YesCelebrities threatening to leave shows that put them at the top of their game for more money are as common in TV land as dollar bill Kleenex dispensers.

That’s because it usually works. The star uses their awesome celebrity super powers to strike fear into the network heads’ hearts (assuming they have one) and gets them to sign bigger and bigger checks, simply by threatening to walk. It’s happened on almost every great show worth watching.

Now it’s happened again. This time, ‘Two and a Half Men‘ star Charlie Sheen wants out of his contract at the end of this season. Some say it’s because of his recent chemical dependency and domestic disturbance problems. Others say he just wants more money. I say, call his bluff. Let the Sheenster run free.

Testing the show in familiar waters without its prime star would do it and our eyeballs a world of good. Sure the show is riding high on the ratings and shows no signs of stopping, but longevity doesn’t always equal quality in the TV world. In fact, the only thing missing from this textbook definition of “jumping the shark” is an episode centered around one of the main characters actually jumping a shark.

Scandal and off-screen tabloid news might do good for ratings, but it only keeps people tuning in for all the wrong reasons and Sheen is one of those celebrities who has been in the fish wrap pages for so long that he should start paying rent to the National Enquirer. Granted, not all of the news has been fair or probably even true, but he’s a firestorm for controversy and seedy celebrity gossip and Sheen seems to have acknowledged it, embraced it and poked fun at it so many times that he could pencil it into his calendar.

The problem is, of course, when your top star gets a boatload of bad publicity and keeps your show’s ratings’ high, there isn’t a need to make the show any better. You can coast by on any old cliche and as long as the ratings are up, everyone, except the audience, is happy. ‘Two and a Half Men’ had a good run at first, but the quality has fallen and landed with a loud thud. There are more groans than laughs in just about every episode and the characters seem trapped in some kind of bizarre time warp where no one moves on, people age twice as long and no one changes. It’s like watching ‘Lost’ for drooling morons.

Sending Charlie on his merry way could change and improve or break this long-suffering show. Losing the aging man-whore character/actor crutch could either breathe new life into the show or put it out of its misery ‘Old Yeller’ style.

Either would be fine by me.

Charlie Sheen Won’t Renew ‘Two and a Half Men’ Contract

Posted by: admin   in News · Comments (0)

Even before he infamously attacked his wife Brooke Mueller during Christmas holiday last year, Charlie Sheen has hinted that he’s looking forward to retire from the show business. According to People’s sources, the time is now. “Charlie’s just done,” said a set source. “And he’s quietly telling his friends he’s not coming back.”

040310 1211 CharlieShee1 Charlie Sheen Wont Renew Two and a Half Men Contract

This means he will end his role as womanizer Charlie Harper on “Two and a Half Men” after the seventh season wraps up. His contract with CBS expired this year and he reportedly refused to sign a new contract that will extend the show to eighth season. “He wants to move on,” said a friend. “Leaving is 100 percent his idea.”

CBS would not comment on contract issues while Sheen’s rep Stan Rosenfield could only confirm, “Charlie’s deal is only through this current season.” However, a source close to the show said “negotiations are ongoing and nothing has been determined.”

Additionally, TMZ reported that Sheen is not quitting but simply not happy with the number that Warner Bros. offers. He’s asking for $1.5 million per episode but the studio is only giving $1 million. “This deal will be made at midnight on the day CBS announces its new fall schedule [May 19],” the site’s source said. “Everyone plays the brinksmanship game.”

While attending Primetime Emmy Awards last year Charlie Sheen said, “I got five kids, I’ve got amazing wife. There is life outside of show business. It’s been a great run. This is my last contract year, so maybe it’s up to CBS and Warner Bros.”
